BLOOM features a strong educational component by leading a series of educational activities with a network of 20 pilot teachers and their schools. A first activity is creating the BLOOM School Box containing five STEM lesson plans, which will help other teachers introduce bio economy in their lessons. Future activities include local teacher trainings, a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for teachers on bio economy, a school competition and many other educational dissemination activities!
In order to kick start these activities, BLOOM has already organized, in collaboration with Scientix (Europe’s community for science education), two science projects workshops in March and September 2018. The workshops took place in the Future Classroom Lab in Brussels. A third workshop is planned for January 2019.
During the first two workshops, ten of the BLOOM pilot teachers from Sweden, Italy, Austria, Greece, Croatia, Israel, Portugal, Poland, Spain and Belgium, have met in Brussels to work on the BLOOM School Box. In the third workshop, all 20 pilot teachers will meet to finalize the School Box and plan BLOOM’s future educational activities.
Curious about BLOOM’s activities for teachers?
The BLOOM School Box will be published on the BLOOM website repository at the beginning of 2019, so if you want to be among the first to use it, follow the project newsletter and social media channels to keep up to speed with our news!
The MOOC will start on 4th March 2019 and will run on the European Schoolnet Academy (an online platform offering professional development activities for primary and secondary school teachers, and other educational stakeholders) for 5,5 weeks over 4 modules.
